Guangxi invests 1.89 billion USD in ASEAN-agriculture
In recent years, more and more agricultural food products from Guangxi found their way to Southeast Asia. The level of agricultural technology also improved as specialist delegations spread the relevant technology in Southeast Asia. Many Chinese companies have, or are planning to, invest in agricultural enterprises in this region and the ties between Guangxi and ASEAN-countries are growing stronger.
We are now in the "13th Five Year Plan" (2016-2020), and 71 companies from Guangxi have found their way to Southeast Asia, which is an increase of 21 companies since 2015. The overall investment in ASEAN-agriculture amounts to 1.89 billion USD, which is an increase of 1.41 billion USD or 260% in comparison with 2015.
The trade in agricultural products between Guangxi and ASEAN-countries has also steadily increased in recent years. The overall value of import and export in agricultural products between Guangxi and ASEAN-countries is 2.41 billion USD and accounts for 31.1% of Guangxi agricultural import and export, which is an increase of 380 million USD, or 18.7% in comparison with 2015.
Guangxi was a top-10 agricultural export partner of Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines in 2017. Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia were the top-10 agricultural import partners for Guangxi in 2017.
